Technical Consultant (Durham based)

The Opportunity
This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic Technical Consultant to join a growing team and gain exposure to a vast range of technologies and business issues. You’ll be actively encouraged to rapidly develop your areas of subject matter expertise and to provide client facing consultancy services in a supportive team oriented environment. Your career will progress at a pace limited only by your own capabilities, and you’ll be rewarded directly for your contribution.

You might be involved in the design, implementation and support of sophisticated infrastructure solutions or providing consultancy for disaster recovery, business continuity planning or security – depending on your chosen areas of interest and levels of knowledge.

You must have at least 2 - 5 years’ experience in a technical role, ideally working in a project driven environment (not necessarily providing consultancy).

  • Customer service orientation – you’ll demonstrate an instinctive understanding of the needs of your customers and will pride yourself on always delivering to a high standard.
  • Strong documentation and report writing skills – you must be able to produce clear and comprehensive reports under time pressure.


Technical Knowledge
You must have a good understanding of a broad base of IT infrastructure concepts with specialist knowledge in several of the following:

  • Networking technologies (particularly Cisco)
  • Security technologies and solutions
  • Virtualisation Technology
  • Storage Technology
  • Key Microsoft server roles (AD, Exchange, SQL, SharePoint, System Centre)
  • Linux

Location: Durham, with UK wide travel potential 
Salary: £26 - £34k plus benefits (negotiable subject to experience)
Type: Full Time/Permanent
