My role at Waterstons is...

Gives me the opportunity to get to know our clients - what they do, how they do it, their culture and their people. No project is the same, because no two clients are the same. That keeps it interesting. I love challenges and love to help solve big knotty problems. As Head of PMO, I don't get to roll my sleeves up and be directly involved in the delivery of the bigger, more complex projects too often. But I get to coach and support others. Having a brilliant team to work with is great and I often say it's a privilege.

My proudest Waterstons moment is...

I've worked at Waterstons since 2001 so it's hard to be selective about my proudest Waterstons moment. I could talk about work we've delivered for clients such as the SharePoint work we did (before SharePoint was everywhere) for a well-known Business School that received media attention. However, what I want to focus on are Waterstons' values. Like everybody at Waterstons, I'm passionate about these and I'm proud of the fact that anybody in the company is empowered to question and challenge anybody else if they feel our values aren't being followed. We aren't perfect, nobody is. But the fact we are so tough on ourselves to hold our values in high esteem is something to be proud of.

My life away from work is...

You might find me exhausted and lost on some hike in the moors around my home in County Durham and loving every minute of it! Failing that, I love the home comforts of a home-cooked meal. Sitting in front of the fire with my wife and wrestling with the grandkids. I'm also pretty skilled at solving the world's problems (in my opinion, at least) over a glass of whiskey with a few friends.

I’ll be with you when...

You need something delivered. The talking has happened (maybe you feel more talking than doing has happened), but now action is required. Whether it's to find someone to help rescue a project or deliver a project that's been agreed or even just to explore options I'm someone who you can count on for an open and honest discussion. If you happen to have decent coffee (black, no sugar) all the better.
