We’re seeking a passionate and creative problem solver to join and drive our brand new automation practice.

Our ideal candidate is currently working, or has worked, as part of a service desk or infrastructure support team and wondering how they can develop their career further.

Working with PowerShell and Azure you’ll use your skills to automate processes that will enable our team to support our clients faster and more efficiently. As your experience and confidence grows we’ll be looking for you to be hands on advising our clients directly as to how they can use automation to improve their IT function and create value in their organisations.

You won’t be on your own – you’ll be sitting in our wider managed services team and able to draw on the strength and experience over 80 people -but they’ll be looking to you too to help them improve our clients’ businesses.

About the Automation Engineer role

We are looking for individuals with background in infrastructure/service desk wanting to focus on writing code to automate tasks. This is a new and exciting role that we have created between our Digital and Technology divisions.

This role will allow us as a business to automate tasks for teams providing support as well as offer this service to our customers. You will work with PowerShell and Azure to produce automations that will make our support faster and better. As the time moves on, you will work with our clients to help them be better at support and look to help them automate some of their own processes.

Requirements for the Automations Engineer:

Successful candidates will have experience in a broad range of technologies that we use every day in a support capacity – preferably with some industry standard accreditations or demonstratable experience to back this up. 

Some of the areas we look out for:

  • Passion for PowerShell /problem solving
  • Ideally experience of Source control systems
  • Ideally experience of Azure and IaC
  • A desire to continually learn and develop skills over time, staying abreast of new technologies
  • Experience of working with team members
  • Thrives working within team focused environment with excellent spoken and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service values and be able to build a strong working relationship with our clients

This role will be based in Durham but most of your work can be carried out remotely. Travel to the office is limited but necessary. Currently we’re utilising technology to work remotely and continue our great work.
