About Waterstons:

We’re on a mission to help our customers build a better business. We have offices in the UK and Australia and a team of people who work across the globe to provide unique business solutions, service and support that directly adds value to our clients.

About the role:

Our Consulting team consists of a core business consulting section, a project management office and an M&A (Mergers and Acquisitions) team.

This role will give you exposure to the M&A team and the Business Consulting team and allow you to specialise once you have built that experience.

In M&A, you will be working with clients as they buy, sell or merge businesses. There is a massive range of technology issues, from licensing, to business systems and infrastructure. It’s a time-pressured environment, both in getting the deals across the line on time and in managing all the IT transformation after the deal.

In Consulting, you will work with clients on a range of business problems. This could be process mapping and helping them select a new system. It could be thinking through how to support a business to scale and grow. The range of business problems we work on is broad.

This is a brilliant learning opportunity – you’ll be working alongside experienced practitioners and with client staff, mitigating risks to their operations and helping them gain the benefits from technology.

For this role you’ll need an unusual combination of skills. We need first class communications skills – after all, you will be working directly with clients and producing documents of high quality. You will understand how businesses work and how you might help them improve. You will have a good general understanding of how technology works in organisations.

About you:

You enjoy both the big picture – what will this business look like in three years? – and the detail – have we reviewed all the relevant documents?

You’ll be a team player with a passion for helping our clients. You’ll be a quick thinker who thrives under pressure and is able to work independently as well as part of a team.

If you enjoy a varied environment, learning and sharing your knowledge and experience to support, coach and mentor your colleagues, then we want to hear from you. Your progression is important to us, and your career path is up to you. We commit to investing in our people and reward you for your commitment and effort.

Your academic discipline is less important than the skills set out above. You tell us why your background is suitable! We’d love our teams to be more representative of the communities we serve and welcome applications from people who come from underrepresented backgrounds.

This role can be based in London, Durham or Glasgow and does involve some travel to client sites. Currently we’re utilising technology to work remotely and continue our great work.
