About the Principal Information Security Consultant role
A highly experienced Information Security Consultant seeking a new challenge, we are specifically recruiting this role to support one of our strategic clients and for the successful candidate to act as their “Head of Information Security” for 12 months. Beyond this assignment you will join our growing Cyber team and help shape the company’s security and compliance services nationwide for a leading IT and business consultancy, supporting national and international clients.
The successful candidate will need to be able to travel to London based clients offices and there is also the potential for additional UK and international travel.
Responsibilities for the Principal Information Security Consultant role
With principal / executive commercial experience in a similar role you will also be certified to high level. We are looking for the right person so your passion for technology and problem solving is just as important as technical skills and knowledge.
The role will involve the delivery of a strategic information security programme and overseeing an information security team with a range of governance, risk, compliance and technical skills. Strong leadership qualities and the ability to communicate with senior stakeholders are critical to this role.
In addition you will have the opportunity to provide mentoring and support to junior team members to raise the skills and services offer by the team.
You will be responsible for identifying and developing new business opportunities with clients and prospects, acting as their trusted advisor to provide them with unrivalled advice and solutions and demonstrating how the Waterstons’ Cyber team can add value to their business.
Working with the rest of the Cyber team, you will deliver projects including information security strategy, data protection consultancy and assessments against frameworks such as ISO 27001:2013 and Cyber Essentials and keeping ahead of the latest information security and data protection best practice, to provide clients with the best advice.
Requirements for the Principal Information Security Consultant
Highly knowledgeable in risk management and information security governance holding “Head of Information Security / CISO” level roles or equivalent
Experienced in leading and managing strategic information security programmes
Excellent customer service values ensuring you act s trusted strategic advisor to our clients
Good understanding of information security standards and best practice including Cyber Essentials and ISO 27001:2013
Experience in security policy creation, risk management and audit best practice
Experience co-ordinating Security Monitoring / SIEM services and incident response processes
Currently hold information security certifications such as ISO 27001 Lead Auditor / Implementer, CISSP, CISM & CISA
A good understanding of Data Protection (beneficial)
Experience of information security in the public / higher education sector (desirable)
