Adam Harland

Project Manager

I joined Waterstons in July 2017 as a Project Manager within the Bespoke Software team as part of a two year placement. I am currently studying BA Business Leadership and Corporate Management at Northumbria University, which I started last year after a four year break from full time education. I first heard about Waterstons when they came to my University to deliver a pitch about a placement position they were offering within the Bespoke Software team. I was instantly impressed with their transparent and honest yet professional approach and this encouraged me to apply for a position.

Joining Waterstons is a total change of direction for me, as for the past five years I have worked within a local council in Teesside in a variety of roles. I have worked in a number of finance based roles, these were often customer focussed and involved a lot of problem solving and negotiating; skills that I’m sure will be valuable when managing projects! My focus has always been on driving change and business improvement and I am looking forward to applying this strategy to challenges I may face in my new role; working in a dynamic and forward thinking way is definitely what suits me best! With technology continuously advancing, the way in which we work is constantly evolving and to be part of a culture and environment that embraces this concept is a really exciting opportunity.

Outside of work, I don’t do anything massively interesting, but I like maintaining an active social life. I’m also keen to get involved in charity work and got involved in a lot of fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Awareness in association with one of my previous jobs.
