Angus Kidd

Non-Executive Director

My background…

I'm from Newcastle originally and studied Finance at Manchester University. Following this, I travelled the world for 2 years and realised life should be an adventure.

I joined Credit Suisse in London and worked for them for 20+ years in 5 countries, mostly in Risk Management and also COO, HR and Compliance. I spent time in Sydney and Tokyo as a Market Risk analyst advising Traders how to not lose money. Then Singapore for many years building and running a range of Risk Management teams across Asia, Poland, UK and the US.

In 2015 I was appointed head of Credit Suisse Poland which is a 5000 person operation providing Back Office services (IT, Finance, Risk, Legal, HR etc) for the bank across Europe and Switzerland. Since returning to the North East in 2019, I lecture at Northumbria University Business School, am a charity Trustee for Age UK and a governor for a local school. I am also currently consulting with Standard Chartered bank.

My role at Waterstons…

I am a Non Executive Director along with two others, Maggie and Bob. I had heard a lot of good things about Waterstons when returning to the North East, so I was always interested to learn more about the company. After a very interesting and thorough interview process, I was very pleased to accept the offer to join and be part of the team.

My life away from work…

As a family we live in Ponteland near Newcastle although we are quite an international family. I'm married to Dorean who is Canadian and we met when I was working in Japan 20 years ago. We have two sons, Jack 14 and Charlie 12, both at Dame Allens School in Newcastle and they were both born in Singapore. My main hobbies are cycling, running, playing and watching football as well as collecting sports memorabilia. My latest COVID hobby is wine tasting...
