I have a great passion for technology and I am always willing to learn and progress my knowledge. Therefore, I decided to explore options outside my home country of Latvia and travel to the UK. Moving to the UK in 2007, I studied a Computer Network Technology degree at the University of Central Lancashire and straight after graduating in 2011, I joined Waterstons.
Since joining Waterstons I have continued developing my skills and knowledge through working on the Service Desk and studying towards IT certifications. Graduating from a network degree I was very keen on gaining Cisco certification, however, after passing my CCNA qualification my interests slightly changed and I got more involved with Microsoft technologies. I have achieved MCSA in Server 2008 and I am currently working towards MCSA 2012.
I also have a strong understanding and deep knowledge of various backup products and have been working with different versions of Symantec, vRanger and Veeam. I have also been involved in lots of backup troubleshooting issues as well as setting up backup jobs from scratch, performing complex restore and backup product upgrades.
I used to play professional chess back in college. These days I try to find time to play for enjoyment rather than competition. However, now and again I will play at the odd chess congress to prove to myself that I can still achieve good results.
