Ariela Bawol

Senior Software Consultant

Information Technology was always my favourite subject at school but my interest in software programming first began after I developed a website during my A Levels. This led me onto studying Computer Science at Newcastle University, where I heard about Waterstons during a guest lecture delivered by Sally Waterston. Hearing about the Company's values and passion for technology made me want to apply for an industrial placement straight away.

Fortunately, my application was accepted and I joined the Software team in July 2016 as a placement student. I loved my placement at Waterstons so much that I came back full-time as soon as I graduated. Since returning, I have had the opportunity to work on the development service desk for nine months and work on a long-term project, using a range of technologies.

Outside of work I like to pretend that I am a "professional" photographer by taking embarrassing photos of my closest family and my cat Apollo; he is great at modelling and makes my job extremely easy - you can follow him on Instagram. I am also slowly catching up on my childhood dream of owning a huge Lego collection by constantly finding good excuses to buy new Lego sets.
