Arran Dacres

Bespoke Consultant

I joined the Bespoke team in July 2016 as a placement student from Newcastle University where I’m working towards a Computer Science degree. After speaking to previous placement students and attending numerous guest lectures hosted by several Waterstons employees, I was sure that Waterstons was the right place to gain valuable real-world experience, and to build upon the skills and knowledge gained during my time at university.

The Bespoke Consultant role is very challenging but also very rewarding as you get the opportunity to play a part in the whole software development process; from the initial client meetings, up to the final closure of the project.

From early on in my time at Waterstons I have been given the responsibility of working on multiple projects for clients, incorporating many different technologies and tools. The consultancy side of the role also means I get to interact directly with clients which is a part of the development process I’m really enjoying.

In my spare time I really enjoy gaming as it helps me to relax and keep in touch with friends. I also have a passion for football. A keen competitive player when I was younger, however a decrease in ability, and an increase in my KFC intake, means I’m now more suited to watching rather than participating – although that doesn’t seem to stop me.
