Marketing Assistant

I have always considered myself a creative individual, through my own personal interest of photography and going on to study it as a subject at school. I found much more enjoyment in the creation of my own photographs than that of complex maths equations. It was this creative flair and interest in photography that has steered me towards a career in marketing.

My first taste of the marketing industry was through the work experience I participated in at two creative agencies. Both separate experiences gave me an insight into what is involved and the different aspects of media used within a campaign. My time spent in the agencies also opened up my eyes to the entire industry and was a main indicator when deciding my degree course. I considered courses such as graphic design and photography, however felt I wanted to expand my business and marketing knowledge and so decided on Marketing and Management at Newcastle University.

After recently completing my second year of the degree it has allowed me to reflect on all that I have learnt. An aspect that intrigues me most is marketing communications and the increasing change in methods as technology develops. This is actually one reason that Waterstons jumped out to me as a company I could work within. Having such a key emphasis on the people first ethos and the importance of strong communication with clients, it was an environment I believed I could thrive in. Becoming a part of the marketing team at Waterstons is the next step in my professional career and will allow me to put my studies into practice.

However to tell you the truth, my passion for marketing does potentially fall short to one other interest of mineā€¦ I have an unhealthy and obsessive addiction to buying and selling trainers. Often finding myself ignoring the selling aspect.
