Catriona Crowe

Technology Consultant

Life Before Waterstons

I joined Waterstons in Summer 2019 as a Technology Consultant, following my graduation from Glasgow Caledonian University. My course – BSc Computing – consisted of mostly programming modules. It wasn’t until I got my internship as a First Line Technician that I was exposed to many more technologies and learned how they are used to bring value to a business. It is fascinating to realise that all these technologies work in harmony in the background and we take it all for granted until it stops working. Technology has such a big impact on our lives in general and that is why I knew I wanted to pursue a career in it.

Working at Waterstons

Working on the service desk at Waterstons is great because it allows me to use a broad range of skills, communicate with different people each day and challenge myself as much as I want to! We are trusted to apply our initiative and improve the technical environment for others. It is so easy to do that when we have a happy working environment at Waterstons and are supported by everyone around us.

Outside of Work

I have a commitment to the 134th Rainbows. I am one of three qualified leaders at this Girlguiding group. I love having an involvement with my local community and helping provide a safe space for kids to have fun. They always manage to light up my day showing off their latest tricks. I have spent the summer working in Ibiza and I also spent another summer travelling around Europe. I will probably be the first person to suggest getting shots on a night out and most likely to be first one on the dance floor. I have a huge family so there is always a get together to look forward to.
