I moved to the North East in 2005 to study Mathematics and Physics at Durham University and have stayed ever since. I began working at Waterstons last April, having spent time working for a church, a handful of schools, a supermarket and a business research company. All of these roles involved a large helping of problem solving and interaction with colleagues or customers. Having decided to move into IT, I certainly didn’t want to end up tucked away in a quiet corner and hence Waterstons fitted perfectly.
Since joining Waterstons I have mainly developed my skills through working on the Service Desk and through going over the material for Microsoft certifications. Working with the Service Desk has enabled me to get to know our clients quickly and support their systems. I am the site manager for a few of our smaller clients in the engineering, food and services sectors. The great thing about Waterstons is that you’re in a like-minded team who are right behind you. This is particularly useful when working on client sites where a close relationship with the Service Desk is crucial for a reliable service to those who rely on IT for their day to day work.
I have been married to my wife Steff for three years and as all of Steff’s family are German, I’ve been learning the German language for some time to be able to converse with them. We currently live in Sunderland and are members of Trinity Church Sunderland where I often help out with PA and also with the children’s groups. To relax I enjoy DIY, painting or just exploring the North East, Northumberland or the Lakes.
