Liam Potter

Senior Technology Consultant

All the way back in high school when I had to choose which GCSEs I wanted to do for the next two years, that’s when I realised I wanted a career in IT. I enjoyed learning how it all worked and the ever-changing technology - I started high school when flip phones were all the range and left when they were obsolete! After college, I landed a great opportunity to work with the Chamber of Commerce as an apprentice.

Being an apprentice in a small business exposed me to more chances to learn than I might have had in a normal first line role. This sparked my interest to learn more outside of work and understand how IT can help shape business and get the most out of it. I’ve also had the opportunity to work in a company with offices across seven countries and support each one, as well as a national company setting up a new helpdesk in the north of England. I then came across the job opportunity here at Waterstons; the company’s values really appealed to me as they are the same as my own, and I was fortunate enough to get the job!

In my spare time, I like to play video games (set a few records but not held a #1 spot in the world just yet) and explore the North East and Scotland with my partner to see what the world (or at least the UK) has to offer! I also love a good board game, however, anything word related like Scrabble is not my forte - I don’t know enough big words, and apparently the words I “make up” don’t count!
