Ray Lydon

Senior Technology Consultant

Ever since getting my hands on the rubber keyed Sinclair Spectrum 48K at an early age I have had an interest in technology and all that it can offer us. Although my other passion as I grew up was art, which led me to studying Graphic Design at college, I ended up working in IT as a temporary job after finishing my studies. Temporary became permanent however, and despite a brief hiatus whilst I studied a degree in Psychology, IT ended up becoming my vocation.

The bulk of my previous roles have been within global financial institutions. Working in such a fast paced environment has exposed me to a wide range of technologies, projects and busy trade floors and necessitated the development of top notch customer service skills! During that time it's been fascinating to see the shift from IT almost being a separate function - locked away in a dark room, to evolving into something very business outcome aligned and customer service driven.

I've not been here long, but I already feel settled which I primarily put down to the friendly support from all my colleagues. I believe this all stems from the ethos of empowerment and trust that Sally and Mike built the company upon that's created a great family feeling.

Although it's still early days, I’m loving the challenge and variety of working closely with our numerous London based clients. Working within Waterstons Managed Services team, my focus is on helping those clients solve existing problems or looking for ways to improve the technology they currently have.

Waterstons has some very exciting growth plans for the future which I'm sure will keep the challenges and variety coming thick and fast.
