Ricky Milliken

Scotland Regional Head

I decided when I left school I would join the Royal Navy to see the world and after 10 years in the Submarine Service (seeing the world mostly underwater) and a number of submarines (the first of which is now a museum on google street view!) I decided to leave and pursue a career in ICT.

Before Watersons I worked in 4 ICT organisations over 17 years with the move to each one via the tupe process. I have had a number of roles in that time, starting as an Infrastructure support engineer then moving in to service delivery and contract management. I have always had a keen interest in ICT and how it better enables people’s lives and decided to move to a Project and Bid management role then with the last several years, managing a professional service team.

What attracted me to Watersons is its values, capability, professionalism and the opportunities it presents. Its values are very people focussed, its capability is highly impressive and progressive, spread over a broad spectrum and its professionalism is recognised not only by its customers, but also by other companies in the industry. Finally I see this as an opportunity to learn, develop and contribute to a company that is on an exciting journey, pushing boundaries, delivering quality services to customers to better enable people’s lives through the advancement of technology.

My main passion in life is spending time with my family, whether spending weekends away, going to the cinema or attending family meals – these are the times I love the most. From an individual point though I love football, the boots got hung up years ago but I avidly follow the game, whether taking my son to play, attending matches or watching on TV.
