Stephen Hall

Technology Consultant

When I left school, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do as a career. I spent several years working for United Parcel Services and the Royal Mail. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at both companies mainly due to the people I was working with. Who knew working in the early hours of the morning, normally in the freezing cold could be such a laugh.

After so long I knew that the career I wanted wasn’t in that line of work. Technology was a growing area and I had an interest in computers so that was the next logical step. I spent two years at Darlington College studying an IT Diploma followed by three years at Northumbria University studying Ethical Hacking. By this time, I was a bit sick of education and wanted to start working in IT.

For the next five years I worked in IT Support related roles within the manufacturing and energy industries. Some of the things I worked on were managing a VDI environment for 500+ users, supporting manufacturing systems on production lines, Windows 7 rollout project across multiple countries and general 1st/2nd line IT support duties.

I joined Waterstons in May 2017 and spent the first two years working in Managed Services on the Service Desk. In March 2019 I moved into Technology Projects where I get to work on a variety of different technologies. I consider myself to be a generalist but over time would like to specialise in a technology. I have a strong interest in end user computing and cloud technologies.

Outside of work I enjoy keeping fit by going to the gym, occasionally running and more recently 5 a side with the lads from Waterstons. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. That is usually spent going out for food or for several sociable beers in Durham. I like watching UFC and boxing when the big fights are on.
