Steven Simpson

Technology Consultant

My obsession with computers began when I received my first Commodore 64 in the late 80’s. Since then I have always worked in IT across multiple sectors including Web Start-ups, Manufacturing, Industrial and Defence.

I joined Waterstons in November 2017 after spending 3 years working collaboratively at Durham University. What most impressed me about Waterstons was their commitment to clients, their company ethos and the enthusiasm of the employees. I knew this was something I wanted to be a part of accepted a position within the Service Desk.

After only 3 months I was invited to go to London to assist with our newest client Hawkins\Brown. This was a 6-month secondment to ensure that the transition from the current MSP went as smoothly as possible. This was an excellent experience which gave me insight into the world of architectural design and the technology that drives it.

Now that I have returned to the Northeast, I am in the new position of Problem Manager which will allow me to delve into the more interesting issues that occur on the Service Desk. Looking forward, I hope that Problem Management will become a bigger part of Waterstons offerings, providing tangible benefits to all of our clients and end users.

Outside of work I am a stereotypical nerd. When I am not programming or tinkering with my homelab, I will usually be gaming in some capacity. Whether that be Dungeons & Dragons, board games (chess being my current addiction), MMOs or grand strategy PC games, or when I can a Megagames.
