William Holder

Software Consultant

Having loved computers and video games from an early age, I decided to attempt to branch out and study a Marine Biology degree. Despite this, I got pulled back in and graduated in Computer Science from Newcastle University in 2018. Whilst at University I started freelancing, where I discovered my love for Web Development and for helping people jump into the digital age. This shared ethos, coupled with the amazing things I’d heard about it, led me to apply and subsequently join the software team here at Waterstons.

After graduating I took a year out and took a trip to New Zealand, where I built a Campervan, installed a solar panel, worked on multiple farms and found my way into a Test Automation job in Auckland. I ended up moving back to the UK just in time for the graduate intake where they took me in and I’ve loved it ever since. The people are so friendly, and the work so varied it barely feels like work at all!

Outside of Work

Outside of Waterstons I love to spend time either SCUBA diving (anywhere from the Great Barrier Reef to the North Sea to a lake in Cumbria), or spending time on the Northumberland coastline, walking or attempting to surf! If I’m not jetting off on some adventure, I’ve always got a project or two on the go at home, or I’ll be settling down with a nice cuppa and a Fantasy book – of which I’m always in need of recommendations!
