De-mystifying Cyber Security – what the boardroom needs to know

Stew Hogg is joined by DS Martin Wilson from the North East Cyber Crime Unit to brief you on the essentials

Thursday 25 May

Cyber Security is no longer an optional extra for businesses operating in the modern world. However, with regular headlines of teenagers launching cyber-attacks, big brand names being taken down, and state sponsored hacking, it’s difficult to know where to start. The upcoming GDPR legislation also means that every business, in particular directors, will need to fully understand requirements to keep personal data secure as part of day-to-day business operations.

In this seminar Lead Security Consultant, Stew Hogg will outline what businesses need to know when it comes to security and getting the basics right. And with only one year to go until its implementation, Stew will provide an overview of the upcoming GDPR legislation and the steps organisations can take now, to ensure they’re prepared for this shake-up in data protection responsibilities.

Joining Stew will be DS Martin Wilson from the North East Cyber Crime Unit, who will provide an overview of the work they’re doing to protect local businesses and advise you on the steps you can take to avoid falling victim to the evolving threat of cyber crime. Martin will provide an overview of the Cyber Essentials scheme, designed to help organisations protect themselves against the most common cyber attacks, and also look at the part everyone has to play in the fight against cyber crime.
