Glenn Lavender

Technology Consultant

I started my journey back in 2008, studying at Stockton Riverside College for 6 years. Starting off at level 2 to a Foundation Degree in Computer Networking, I always knew I wanted to have a career in IT and that’s all I’d strive for; I applied for every IT role I could find just to get that foot in the door and after a few very close but unsuccessful attempts, my big break came in 2014 (hurray!) when I was given a chance at, Quorn Foods (who are one of Waterstons clients, actually!) as a IT Helpdesk Analyst.

I was there for just over 3 years and learnt a lot during that time, while getting to know Waterstons very well; I always said to myself I want to work there someday. The culture really shined and having met a lot of the people who are still here now, it was a vision I had to keep going for.

5 years and two different roles later and the opportunity arrived! I can honestly say nothing has changed my opinion; the culture, people and knowledge I have gained in a short amount of time is exactly want I wanted.

If you can’t tell by now, IT is my hobby. There isn’t much in my life that doesn’t involve technology, so I always feel like work is fun and even when challenges present themselves, I find solutions to overcome them. I can still step back from the technological world however – often going for walks or camping in the Lakes and taking in the beautiful British countryside.

Outside of work, I really enjoy going to the cinema and watch= pretty much any film that is released. Some of those films you think you wouldn’t want to watch, often surprise you and are some of the best I’ve ever seen.
