Holly Hinde

Technology Consultant

Before about two years ago when I started studying Computer Science at Newcastle University I had no technical expertise at all. Deciding to do computer science prompted lots of questions from family and friends as to where the idea had come from, but it was just a leap of faith. It soon became clear while studying that I had made the right decision. I loved learning about what was behind the technologies that we all use every day.

I joined Waterstons for my placement year in 2018 and became part of the Managed Services team. This team is responsible for providing remote support and infrastructure monitoring for clients’ systems. Every day is different in this team which makes it an exciting role as every day I am learning new skills. At university the focus is mainly on programming so it is great to now be looking into hardware and infrastructure and gaining knowledge of this area of technology too.

I take every opportunity I can to travel, even better if this takes me to the sea as I love kayaking, swimming and will have a go at any water sport around! My favourites so far have been canoeing in Český Krumlov in the Czech Republic where there are bars along the river you can stop off at along the way back into the old town, and swimming in the Fairy Pools in Skye.
