Michael McStraw

Technology Consultant

I joined Waterstons as soon as I graduated from Northumbria University as a Technical Consultant and am currently working as part of the Managed Services team.

My interest in technology stemmed from years of gaming as a teenager. Eventually I wanted to buy a gaming PC however the pre-built models were ridiculously expensive so I decided to try and build one myself. I soon realised that building the PC was far more fun than I expected and it was the gateway into tinkering with pretty much any device I own.

I took it one step further and chose to study Digital and Computer Forensics at university which, although challenging, allowed me develop both my core IT skills as well as being trained on how to conduct a comprehensive digital forensic investigation.

Although I had heard of Waterstons in the past, it shocked me during the open day to learn how friendly and flexible the staff are whilst still maintaining full professionalism with clients.

I’m currently studying towards my ITIL foundation qualification which will allow me to develop my knowledge further. I know this might come as a shock but outside of work I absolutely love gaming on my PC. I also really enjoy hiking around various spots in the Lake District and travelling to other countries when I haven’t spent all my money on computer games.
