Neil Robertson

Senior Information Security Consultant

My passion for maths and science led me to study Mathematics and Statistics at Newcastle University. Leaving Uni, my first job was with Northern Rock (shows how old I am...) as a business analyst, before I moved to a software and managed services company, cutting my teeth on the technical disciplines of program development, systems administration and database administration.

Using my managed service experience, I moved on to Newcastle Building Society delivering and running the IT as Head of IT Services for their mutual business and outsourcing subsidiary. During this time I developed my skills in security and governance, introducing ITIL, accrediting to the organisation to the international security standard ISO27001 and international outsourcing standard ISAE3000.

Wanting to further specialise on cyber and IT security, I joined Waterstons in February 2020, drawn in by the companies culture, values and staff development. Waterstons have a rapidly growing cyber team adding significant value to clients helping them protect themselves from the increasing and pervasive risk of cyber threats and mature overall business resilience.

Outside of work I enjoy spending time with the family, am a keen golfer hacking the golf ball around Ryton each Saturday morning. I also enjoy running with the Saltwell Harriers and walking\real ale weekends in the Lakes\Dales.
