Software Team Lead

Rich Endersby-Marsh

My role at Waterstons is...

Whilst I freely admit to having a desire to spend most days sitting in a dark room writing code (Mountain Dew and Doritos optional...), I wouldn't get half as much satisfaction from that if I didn't get to spend time with the people that will benefit from it the most. Fortunately my role as a software consultant allows me to engage with all stages of the process: from chatting about requirements and scoping up work through to implementing and delivering something that solves a problem. I also have experience of configuring and customising SharePoint, so from time to time consult on collaboration practices and digital working.

My proudest Waterstons moment is...

My role in a small dev team that delivered a bespoke quoting and billing system for an up-and-coming utilities company. The system became a huge USP for them and helped spark massive growth, eventually being licensed on as a product to other companies in the same space due to significant interest. I'm also very proud of a bespoke risk and incident management system I recently helped deliver that was described as 'a delight to use' and didn't garner a single piece of negative feedback from across a large organisation. It's always immensely satisfying to deliver something that not only makes people's lives easier but does so in a way that delights.

My life away from work is...

Full of music! I've played guitar most of my life but also consider myself a passable bassist and drummer. I spent a number of years using my free time and holidays to tour the UK with my wife who's a singer-songwriter, and more recently have set up a home studio where I'm getting a massive kick out of levelling up my production, mixing and mastering skills. If I'm not hived away in the studio, you'll likely find me with my head in a book, playing Xbox or enjoying the amazing natural scenery in the Lakes or up in Scotland with my wife and dog.

I’ll be with you when...

You have a problem, and you feel like software must be able to solve it but you're not sure how or where to begin. Or if you have an Office 365 tenancy but don't know where to start getting people up and running with digital working, or perhaps you just want to know what's possible!
