Oli Atkins

Technology Consultant

My interest in IT started as a child, after my parents acquired a second hand beige Windows 95 PC and I tried to teach them how it worked, with limited success! Over the following years my enthusiasm for computing developed leading me to study Computer Studies at Nottingham Trent University, where I graduated in 2008. I moved to the North East later that year and undertook contract roles providing IT support for various private and public sector organisations. I later found a permanent position with a multinational manufacturing company where I spent almost seven years working my way up to IT Project Manager.

Having eventually decided I needed a new challenge I was lucky enough to be offered a role at Waterstons working as a Technology Consultant within Managed Services. Since joining the team I've been meeting clients, visiting their sites and learning the systems they use. I find the challenges involved in managing clients' IT systems and how technology can be used to bring positive business benefits very exciting. I'm looking forward to continually developing my technical skills to meet our clients' needs, as well as using and honing my project management skills whenever possible!

Outside of work I have two young children who keep me very busy. I particularly enjoy spending days out with my family at weekends exploring the North East, from beaches and parks to castles and museums. When I get time to myself I enjoy reading Batman comics, playing video games and watching sport, in particular Formula 1, football and rugby.
