Natalie Bedworth

Senior Transformation Consultant

I had heard of Waterstons long before I joined the company. A friend first started as a year in industry student back at University, whilst I had joined a design agency. As we embarked on our work experience, through the following years, we regularly swapped stories, provided opinions and debated approaches to the topics raised. As the years passed I came across the name ‘Waterstons’ more and more, then an opportunity arose to join this company I had previously heard so much about and I haven’t looked back.

Though I only joined in November 2013, I feel I have been here much longer (in a good way!). I have been part of so many opportunities and worked with lots of people. No two experiences are the same, and the challenges each project throws up are so different, I really do learn and grow each day.

What I'm good at

My background is centred around Consultancy, Project and Account Management. Being ‘agency side’ my clients have been located across diverse industries. Always at the centre of my role, however, has been the need to understand clients in detail to deliver successful solutions. Regardless of the context, I am motivated by business need and the improvements it can bring. I think this comes from being quite analytical and process orientated; I have to understand strategic objectives and ask ‘why?’ a lot! This has provided a good grounding so far in my delivery of projects, which have covered Gap Analysis, Due Diligence and Business Process Alignment.

I have a specific focus on the education sector due to a history of working with HE establishments. The cross collaboration and focus on learning within the sector is really interesting, and is something I find really useful within my work. That said, I love meeting and learning about any new organisations and believe cross sector understanding can often be invaluable in bringing new insights. It allows me to fulfil my true passion for meeting people and building relationships. I’m a natural people person both in work and out.

Recent Work

I have been involved in Business Intelligence projects, in a wide range of organisations. This has included anything from a short audit of an existing solution measuring student engagement, to detailed analysis of how tools could be introduced to provide real-time passenger counts in an airport. Business Intelligence is such a vast and exciting area – there are no limits as to what can be achieved and ultimately the information it provides transforms organisations, it’s invaluable. As a transformation consultant I am driven by the business value and objectives so I find it interesting delving into organisations and exploring the requirements clients want to realise and why. The accompanying change management strategies and organisational alignment required to ensure success are also fascinating.

Outside of Work

I enjoy keeping fit and healthy, mostly through interval training and running. I didn’t used to be so keen on exercise… maybe it’s an age thing! It certainly balances out my other enjoyment which is good food and wine.
