Dawn Ward

Head of People and Culture

Working in HR runs in the family and from a young age, I used to go to work with my dad and play on his big office swivel chair. Some years on I went to study at Northumbria University and have worked in HR roles across several organisations, mainly in the manufacturing sector.

I moved to Waterstons in Spring 2019 which was a big change for me in terms of industry and cultural norms but I was delighted to be offered the role and experience a new environment.

Work is a big part of my life and I love new challenges, being creative and supporting others achieve the best for themselves and the organisation. Waterstons are passionate about putting people first and this is music to my ears.

Family time is equally important to me and with two cats and two dogs, life is far from quiet, but that is the way I like it. I enjoy visiting new places, spending time with friends and family, eating out and being active. Oh and wine too!

When I am not doing any of the above, I try to read or watch films but my wired natures means that I struggle to sit still, so it’s likely I will be doing a combination of things whilst trying to quieten my mind.
