I joined Waterstons at the beginning of 2013 after working for several IT companies in the North East of England. After working for a large managed services provider for three years I decided a change was needed. I had heard a lot of good things about Waterstons from colleagues and friends, and after a seeing a chance twitter post advertising a recruitment night I knew I had to attend. Shortly afterwards I started my role at Waterstons as a senior consultant working with across a range of technologies.

So why technology?

I have a real interest in all things technology and science, ranging from the newest gadgets to the latest developments in the scientific world. From an early age I can still remember playing with computers, writing very simplistic code on an old Amstrad machine to change the colour of the screen. My interest in technology has grown from there, leading to my career in the Information Technology sector.

At Waterstons I work with clients to improve their overall IT infrastructure but I specifically focus on technologies that allow efficiencies to be utilised in the way people and IT departments work. If a system can be introduced that greatly reduces the time to deploy multiple PCs or allowing people to connect into work systems from home, maybe even from a smartphone or tablet, that's got to be a good thing!

Outside of work

I love living in the North East, I’d say Durham was my home town but there are so many other places in the area to see. Motorsport and rugby are my main sporting interests and although I don’t play rugby any more I still like to watch as much as I can, either on the TV or go to the games when possible.
