My role at Waterstons is...

Varied and never dull, I'm on the Bespoke Operations team so I can be planning a new solution architecture in the morning, a deep dive into an obscure issue at midday, then co-ordinating a project in the afternoon. I work closely with clients to meet some of the more reactive needs of a business, so there's a lot of relationship building and situational analysis that I really enjoy.

My proudest Waterstons moment is...

Finding the impossible problem. When COVID hit and we all started working from home, nobody expected that an application that's worked for years would get brought down by people connecting from home. When the problem brief is an application developed before anyone can remember that worked for everyone on Tuesday but not Wednesday morning, then was fine again in the afternoon... well, that's the kind of mystery I live for! It took a long few days of hair pulling, but it turned out if the first person to log in that day had just the right home setup it made the entire system very unhappy. Quick hotfix and deployment later, and it's good as new!

My life away from work is...

Nearly as varied as my day job! Sometimes I like to relax with a nice game, other times I'll be out exploring the world or trying my hand at something new like climbing or welding. Once I'm interested in something it'll have me captivated for days.

I’ll be with you when...

You have a technical problem, are looking to automate your daily tasks, or just want some advice. I originally moved into software after years in technical support so I'm well suited for breaking down complex problems or requirement sets into simple, understandable chunks and getting you on the right path.

My sector strengths are...

  • Architecture, Engineering & Construction
  • Medical/Testing
