I first joined Waterstons as a summer intern in 2013, then came back for a placement year in 2014. I went on to work one day a week during my time at university until I finally joined the company full time as a graduate.

While working here, I've had many opportunities to work on our development help desk and I took a particular interest in our software support team. I love working with our clients and our development team to make sure that we provide the best possible service.

I work with our Service Desk Manager, continually improving our processes, tools and information so that we can get better and better at what we do. We look after software that our team have written and also other people's legacy software. It can be challenging supporting older software and technologies. Even understanding what some of our clients' applications do, let alone how they work can be difficult, but it's rewarding knowing that we're helping our clients' IT directors to sleep better at night. We've looked after everything from business critical Excel spreadsheets on steroids to software that automates 3D printing.

These days I lead our legacy and software support offerings. I help clients to understand the risk around their legacy applications and to mitigate that risk through good remediation actions, clever support and, in some cases, smart replacement. Outside of work, I volunteer as ambulance crew with St John Ambulance which means I spent my free time saving lives in the back of a truck around the North East! I recently taught a series of first aid courses here at Waterstons too.

Occasionally I enjoy a nice cycling trip or a good cup of coffee.
